STRAPS is an Adaptive sports program whose mission is to is to organize, promote, administer, and conduct a variety of adaptive and Paralympic sports for wounded veterans as well as other adults and youth. We offer a variety of internships from Recreational Therapy, Adaptive Physical Education, or Recreation Administration.
The STRAPS internship is offered in the Spring, Summer and Fall.

The STRAPS internship is a full time commitments with little to no time for a part time job. The STRAPS program requires interns to work a minimum of 600 hours for internship placements over the course of at least 15 weeks. Fieldwork placements are a minimum of 200 hours over the course of at least 10 weeks.
No, STRAPS interns do not get paid.
Since STRAPS is a part of a non-profit organization it may not lead to a job with the STRAPS organization but it could open up other opportunities outside of the organization for jobs. This internship will help you get an understanding of what it takes to be a part of the adaptive sports community and will help you build connections with other organizations that you will work with as the STRAPS intern.
Yes. Interns will be exposed to all of the requirements listed by NCTRC for internship placements. Including but not limited to the Domains as specified by the NCTRC.
All interns must be CPR, First Aid, and AED certified, majoring in adaptive physical education or recreational therapy. STRAPS is looking for interns that will take initiative, be self-motivated, and are committed to helping STRAPS enhance the lives of the athletes who participate in the program.
